Robert Busa (1913-2011) est un jésuite italien reconnu comme étant un précurseur des humanités numériques grâce à son travail sur l'Index Thomisticus dès 1949. Il est reconnu par plusieurs comme le père fondateur de la linguistique computationnelle[1].
